Coaches:
As you prepare for the coming 2026 volleyball season, please take a moment to review the following information. The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), in addition to TAPPS, determined bench personnel and decorum as a point of emphasis this year.
- Chairs should be provided for all active participants in the match
- Student athletes and bench personnel should not stand at the end of the bench during play
- Student athletes and bench personnel may cheer on and positively support their teammates with spontaneous reactions to play on the court.
- Student athletes and bench personnel shall not use props in celebration of action on the court
- Clapping on clipboards or other such devices is not allowed
- Banging on chairs or other structures is not allowed
- Using water bottles as a noisemaker by striking another object is not allowed
The list above is not an exhaustive list, but the intent is clear. Standing and cheering for your teammate is allowed, but there is a line that should be respected.
