TAPPS Marching Band Championship in Waco

At the annual Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Marching Band Championship held on November 20, 2025, at the Waco ISD Athletic Complex, Fort Worth Christian School and Midland Christian School emerged as the leaders in their respective tiers, showcasing precision and spirit that set them apart from the competition.

In a display of skill and dedication, the Fort Worth Christian School team claimed the top spot in Tier 1, demonstrating a compelling routine that earned them the championship title. Their victory was closely followed by Prestonwood Christian Academy and Pantego Christian Academy, who secured second and third places respectively, making a strong showing in a fiercely competitive tier.

Tier 2 saw Midland Christian School ascend to the leading position, with a performance that combined technical prowess and creative choreography. Nolan Catholic High School and Lubbock Christian School rounded out the top three, each bringing distinctive styles and enthusiasm to the field.

Rhonda Smith, TAPPS Director of Fine Arts, captured the essence of the event in her remarks. “Each of the school programs represented on the field performed the programs they developed over the course of the fall. While each show was different, the common theme was the dedication of the band members, drum majors and directors. The judges rankings determined an overall ranking, but all who performed were definitely winners under the high blue skies in Waco,” noted Smith.

As the schools look ahead, they prepare for the next TAPPS event scheduled for November 19, 2026, where they will once again showcase their talents in hopes of capturing more accolades.
