Nolan Catholic High School Captures First Place in TAPPS One Act Play Championship

KERRVILLE, TX — Nolan Catholic High School triumphed in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Division One OAP Championship held on November 5 & 6, 2025, at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville, Texas. The competition saw an impressive display of skill from various schools, but Nolan Catholic High School stood out by earning first place.

The championship showcased top-tier performances from eight high schools that had advanced from their district competitions earlier this fall. Among the fierce competitors were Antonian College Preparatory High School, Concordia Lutheran High School, Coram Deo Academy, Hyde Park High School, Legacy Christian High School, Liberty Christian School, Second Baptist School, and the champions, Nolan Catholic High School.

Jaden Torres from Nolan Catholic High School was named Best Actor with Emma Hodge from Second Baptist School named Best Actress , highlighting the school’s strong individual performances. The event also recognized an All Star Cast with members from various schools, demonstrating the breadth of talent across participants.

Rhonda Smith, TAPPS Director of Fine Arts, praised the high level of competition: “The talent on display during the competition continues a tradition of excellent preparation and performance. The actors and students showcased their talents while representing their school communities to the highest level. While we honor the plays and companies with rankings and awards, there were only winners in the footlights in Kerrville.”

As Nolan Catholic High School celebrates their victory, they are already looking forward to defending their title at the next One Act Play Championship scheduled for November 7, 2026.
